Machinery & Facilities

Marpol’s primary manufacturing facility is located in central Goa and spread over an area of 26,000 sq ft. The facility consists of a resin manufacturing plant, two powder coating manufacturing plants, a QA laboratory, warehouses and administrative offices. An additional 10,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in North India services the key northern industrial centers.

We have sourced machines from top manufacturers around the world to ensure the quality and reliability of our end products.

 

These include:

Mixaco CM 600 Mixer, Germany

The quality of the premix largely determines the quality of the powder. The Mixaco premixer ensures intimate mixing of raw materials within 30 secs, without generation of latent heat.
Capacity: 250 kgs.

 

Buss PCS 70 Extruder, Switzerland

This reciprocating single screw extruder ensures a consistent extrudate with very high levels of output. This operation needs to be completed within a very short span of time as the ingredients of the premix are highly sensitive.
Capacity: 600 kgs/hr.

Hosokawa ACM-30 Pulveriser and Classifier, Japan

Ensures proper classification and consistent particle size distribution.
Capacity: 550-600 kg/hr.

Allgaier VTSF-S 1200 Sifter, Germany

This sifter is fitted with ultrasonic device to avoid clogging of powder particles.
Capacity: 550-600 kgs/hr.

To assess the resins,curing agents and powder formulation by observing glass transition temperature, melting properties together with temperature range for cross linking and relative degree of cure.

Brookfield CAP 2000+ Viscometer (USA)

Determination of viscosity of resin and curing agents in order to correlate the film flow in powder formulation.

 

Elcometer Dry Film Thickness Guage (England)

Measurement of Dry Film Thickness of coatings.

RESEARCH FACILITIES

The Technology Centre occupies 10,000 sq ft area and is the R&D arm of Marpol. It is armed with the most sophisticated equipment and a team of highly skilled technical people. The main objective of the Centre is to develop specialty resins for powder coatings and develop analytical techniques for validation of simulation results. The key equipment utilized includes:

Shimadzu DSC-60 Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Japan

Helps assess the resins, curing agents and powder formulation by observing glass transition temperature, melting properties together with temperature range for cross linking and relative degree of cure.

Waters GPC 510 pump with RI detector-Shodex SE, USA

Study of molecular weight distribution of polymers

Perkin Elmer Spectrum One FTIR, England

Identification of pure compound and detection of impurities, important functional groups in resin and curing agent.

Shimadzu UV-2401PC UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Japan

Determination of absorption curve and concentrations during synthesis of resins and curing agents.

Prism TSE 16PC Powder Coating Extruder, England

Homogenization of the premix ingredients of the formulation in powder coatings

Knauer High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC), Germany

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of raw materials and finished product.

 

 

Aster Gas Chromatograph, India

Determines the concentration of individual chemical compounds in a given chemical mixture.
 

 

The R&D Center also houses:

Wet Lab: For bench scale resin formulation development
Resin Pilot Plant: To scale up resin batches to commercial level.
Engineering Lab: This lab houses complex technical apparatus such as glass assemblies, phase equilibrium set up, equipment for thermal and thermodynamic data, etc for measurement and generation of data and validation of simulation results.
Analytical Lab: Is fully equipped with the most sophisticated instruments for developing analytical techniques.
Computer Lab: Uses customized specialty software for modeling and simulation activities.
Effluent Treatment Systems: Ensures effective recycling, eco-conservation and waste minimization.
